Diabetes Symptoms - Knowing How to Recognize the Symptoms
of Diabetes Can Lead to Early Diagnosis
| |

The most common form of diabetes is adult onset Type 2 diabetes; unfortunately many people
may let it go undetected for years before they finally see a doctor.
One of the reasons for this is that they really do not understand or recognize
the diabetes symptoms until they become severe enough to cause major health issues. If left
undetected long enough diabetes can cause serious damage to a person's organs and can eventually be
fatal. If you have a family history of diabetes the chances of you contracting the disease are
significantly higher and you need to know what the symptoms are. This way you may be able to
recognize them early enough to get your diabetes under control before it is too late.

Type 2 diabetes results in high blood sugar levels which can cause the following diabetes
symptoms in some people. Increased hunger and thirst are very common even though the person may also experience
weight that they cannot explain. One of the first signs is frequent urination, which many people put down to being
so thirsty all of the time and ignore it.
Among the more serious symptoms of
diabetes are fatigue, it seems that no matter how matter how much rest you get you are always tired. The
person may also have episodes of blurry vision and extreme headaches that pop up for no reason.
In rare cases the person may experience episodes of fainting without much warning, at the very
most they might feel a little dizzy and then almost immediately lose consciousness. For those who are pregnant,
gestational diabetes symptoms can also include pre-eclampsia, premature labor and an excessive amount of amniotic
fluid.
While no one knows what causes diabetes, although in most cases those who contract the disease
demonstrate at least one of these precursors, they have a family history of diabetes or they are obese and eat a
diet that is heavy in processed foods, white flours and sugars.
In the case of gestational diabetes the added risks include having previously given birth to a
baby that weighed more than 4.5 kg (9 lbs 14 oz) or have previously had a still birth.
No matter what the cause is there has been plenty of research done to find better ways to
control it. At one time doctors thought that the only way to control it was to use medication. Today more doctors
are learning to control diabetes with diet first and medication as a last resort. Doctors are finding that eating a
diet that is rich in fruits and vegetable can help to keep your blood sugar under control as well as cutting out the refined and processed foods that are full
of empty carbs.
Others are turning to alternative treatments for diabetes instead of medications.
While diet plays a large part in helping to keep diabetes under control there are certain herbal
and vitamin supplements that can also do a lot to help stabilize your blood sugar level. You should consult your
doctor before using these supplements as they may interfere with your medication. In essence there is no single
perfect treatment for diabetes, but if you use several methods in tandem with each other you can bring your
diabetes under control.
